Rider Dies in North West 200 Qualifying Incident at Station Corner
A rider competing in the 2026 Briggs Equipment North West 200 died after an incident at Station Corner during Thursday morning's Superbike qualifying session on the Triangle circuit.
Organisers Coleraine and District Motor Club confirmed the rider sustained fatal injuries. The session stopped immediately when emergency services arrived at the scene.
The rider's family approved continuation of the event but asked that the competitor not be named at this time. Organisers expressed condolences to the family and team.
Thursday evening's planned programme was cancelled and replaced with a revised qualifying schedule. Roads around the course reopened and will close again at 4.45pm for the evening sessions.
Four qualifying sessions are set for the evening: Superbike from 5.45pm to 6.15pm, Supertwin and Sportbike from 6.35pm to 7.05pm, Superstock from 7.25pm to 7.55pm, and Supersport from 8.15pm to 8.45pm.
The North West 200 circuit runs between Portstewart, Coleraine, and Portrush.
