PSNI Enforces Drone Ban for North West 200 Road Races
Police Service of Northern Ireland has established an air exclusion zone for the North West 200 road races scheduled from May 4 to 9. The restrictions prohibit drone use to maintain public safety during the event.
PSNI officers contacted clubs, associations and societies that typically use airspace to inform them of the rules. Breaching the order may result in a criminal record, which could impact travel and career opportunities.
The North West 200 attracts top road racers with a programme of events for all ages. Police collaborated with partners on planning to ensure safety for participants and attendees.
Officers will manage traffic around north coast towns and villages throughout the week. They urge road users to exercise consideration and avoid speeding to reach the event.
