Holywood Firm Ordered to Pay Over £4,500 to Former Employee in Redundancy and Wages Case
An industrial tribunal has ordered a Holywood-based company to pay a former employee more than £4,500 following successful claims for redundancy pay, notice pay, and unpaid wages. The judgment in case 31050/25 was issued on 24 April 2026 against Oopsy Daisy Holywood Limited.
Julia Kotwas brought three claims against her former employer following the termination of her employment. The tribunal, presided over by Employment Judge O'Neill sitting alone, found all three claims to be well-founded.
The tribunal ordered the respondent to pay £992.80 in redundancy pay and a further £992.80 in outstanding notice pay. A third award of £2,576.18 was made for unpaid wages owed at the point her employment ended, bringing the total ordered to £4,561.78.
The tribunal's calculations were based on a gross hourly rate of £12.41 and a gross weekly pay figure of £496.40. Kotwas had two complete years of service and was 36 years old at the date of dismissal. A redundancy multiplier of two was applied.
Kotwas represented herself at the hearing, which took place in Belfast on 1 April 2026. Oopsy Daisy Holywood Limited did not attend and was not represented. The Department of the Economy appeared as a notice party, represented by Mr P Cassidy of the Redundancy Payments Service.
The judgment is a relevant judgment for the purposes of the Industrial Tribunals (Interest) Order (Northern Ireland) 1990. Written reasons will be provided only if requested by a party within 14 days of the judgment being issued.
