Motorcyclist Hospitalised After Van Collision in Downpatrick
A motorcyclist suffered serious injuries in a collision with a van on Newcastle Road in Downpatrick, Co Down. Emergency services responded to the incident at 10.51am on Thursday, April 23.
Police, ambulance crews and the air ambulance attended the scene. Paramedics treated the motorcyclist on site before transporting the individual by ambulance to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast. The injuries are serious but not life-threatening.
Police reported the crash at 10.55am. They closed the road for several hours before it reopened.
A Northern Ireland Ambulance Service spokesperson confirmed the dispatch of one emergency ambulance and the charity air ambulance with a helicopter emergency medical team. One person received initial treatment at the scene and was conveyed to hospital.
