Arrest made following early-morning crash in north Belfast
A man has been arrested after a serious road traffic collision in the York Street area of north Belfast during the early hours of Thursday.
The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call at 02:37 and sent two emergency ambulances to the scene. One person was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital for treatment.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland closed several roads while dealing with the incident, including Limestone Road, North Queen Street, Mountcollyer Avenue and York Street. All closures have since been lifted and officers have left the area.
North Belfast DUP MLA Phillip Brett said the local community has been left in shock by the seriousness of the crash. He offered his sympathy to those affected and their families, and confirmed that an arrest has been made.
Mr Brett urged anyone who witnessed the collision or has relevant dashcam or CCTV footage to contact the PSNI. He also praised the emergency services for their swift and professional response.
