Drug dealers sent cannabis worth £100,000 to the home of an elderly person in south Armagh. Family members noticed the parcel seemed wrong and alerted authorities.

Sinn Féin Newry and Armagh MLA Aoife Finnegan raised the alarm over this incident in her constituency. She identified the tactic as cuckooing, where criminals use properties of vulnerable or isolated individuals for illegal purposes.

Finnegan stated that dealers target elderly people to receive drug shipments without linking them to their own addresses. She noted this method is used more often for transporting cannabis.

The MLA called on families and neighbours in south Armagh to stay watchful for such activities. She stressed reporting any similar incidents immediately to authorities.
