Knockavoe Mountain Charity Climb Shifts to June for Broader Participation
Organisers of the seventh annual Knockavoe Mountain charity climb in Strabane plan to hold the event on Saturday, June 20. The date change from October aims to encourage greater attendance amid better weather.
Paul Mullen, the organiser, stated that the shift to June should attract more participants. He noted that past October events drew walkers despite frequent rain and wind.
Mullen added that the climb now appeals to families, including parents with children and pets, rather than just experienced hikers.
The event supports a local charity through participant sponsorships. Mullen called for volunteers, sponsors, and climbers to contact organisers.
Previous climbs brought together hikers from the Strabane district.
