A charity disco in memory of a Strabane man will take place this Saturday at the Fir Trees Hotel.

The event raises funds for Leukaemia and Lymphoma NI. It is held annually in memory of Aiden McAteer, who died in 2014 following a battle with leukaemia.

Local DJ Mickey Ferry, one of the organisers, said Mr McAteer would have enjoyed a night focused on the 1980s. He added that after Mr McAteer’s death, the idea of an 80s-themed disco was proposed to his family, who agreed and have supported it since. This year marks the tenth edition of the event.

Music from both the 1970s and 1980s will feature. Fancy dress is encouraged but not mandatory. A raffle will be held, with a prize awarded for the best outfit.

Admission is £5. The event begins at 9pm in the main function hall.
