Michelle Gallagher, 35, from Beraghvale in Derry, admitted an offence on November 22, 2023, when a vehicle took £20.07 of diesel and left without payment.

She appeared for sentencing at Derry's Magistrate's Court on Friday.

Police received a report of the incident and reviewed CCTV footage, which identified Gallagher as the last registered owner of the vehicle.

In her interview, Gallagher confirmed she was the passenger but could not name the driver. She stated she did not knowingly commit the offence.

Her defence solicitor, Keith Kyle, described the theft as involving modest value.

The court fined Gallagher £75 and ordered her to pay £20.97 in compensation.
