RNLI Carrybridge Lifeboats Launch 20 Times on Upper Lough Erne in 2025
RNLI lifeboats at Carrybridge station launched 20 times on Upper Lough Erne in 2025. Volunteer crews assisted 48 people during those operations. Six launches occurred in darkness.
Across Northern Ireland, RNLI lifeboats from 10 stations launched 235 times last year. Crews brought 214 people to safety, including three lives saved. Eighty launches took place at night.
RNLI lifeguards handled 329 incidents and aided 382 people. Seven of those were lives saved.
The RNLI launched a fundraising appeal called the Mayday Mile. Participants cover one mile daily throughout May. Funds support equipment and training for lifesavers.
David Reid, Carrybridge RNLI Helm, stated that crews respond to sudden changes on the water and depend on public donations. He noted the demanding year shown in launch figures and the need for support ahead of summer.
Linda-Gene Byrne, RNLI Water Safety Lead, said statistics underline the ongoing need for the service. She highlighted responses to water users in trouble and encouraged participation in the Mayday Mile.
