Residents of Kesh in Fermanagh have rallied against the potential sale of Mantlin Park playing fields. The site serves as a key green space in the village, used for children's play, walking dogs, exercise, and community gatherings.

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council considers the fields surplus, prompting suggestions of a housing development on the location. Locals argue it represents one of the last open areas within Kesh town boundaries and marks a welcoming gateway for visitors.

Social media posts reflect widespread discontent. John Lennard Pretorius called for a petition to block the sale and any future development. Carol Maguire stressed its role as a safe spot for kids and walkers, proposing added seating.

Alex Elliot urged a petition against the sale and planning permissions. James Alexander Trotman said removing the fields opposes residents' wishes and harms community ties and wellbeing. Derek Maxwell noted profit overriding community needs.

Wendy Beacom highlighted its use for play and safe exercise. Rosie Boyce pointed to its recreational value for all ages. Steven Dag questioned alternatives for children's play and raised concerns over housing affordability.

Eveline Smith recalled it as a longstanding safe haven near the community centre. Mark Loney opposed houses due to added traffic. Caroline Louise and Julie-Ann Collier emphasized its importance for families and tourists.
