Petrol prices in Fermanagh increased from 132.7p to 149.3p per litre between March 9 and March 30. The 12.5% rise marks the highest in the UK, according to research by automotive parts supplier Ovoko.

A typical 50-litre tank now costs £74.65 in the county. This amount equals 10.4% of the median weekly wage of £716 in Northern Ireland.

Northern Ireland includes four of the ten areas worst affected by fuel price increases.

Garry Jennings of Jennings Fuels stated that operating costs for delivery vehicles rose by 50%. He noted fuel cost per litre moved from £1.29 to around £1.89. Jennings said lorries use up to 300 litres daily, leading to hundreds of pounds more in daily fuel expenses.

Transport costs rose from oil terminals to local distribution networks. Crude oil prices also increased.
