Fermanagh Gardening Society Hosts 58th Flower Show Ahead of 60th Anniversary
Fermanagh Gardening Society will hold its 58th Annual Daffodil and Spring Flower Show on Friday, April 10, at 12 noon in the Killyhevlin Hotel, Enniskillen. Classes cover daffodils, general flowers, art, photography, and categories for children and young people, including School Garden of the Year.
The society formed on February 14, 1966, in Enniskillen Town Hall with help from the Rotary Club. Its first daffodil show occurred in April 1966. Honorary member Brian Duncan MBE VMH advised on the initial schedule.
Current president Evelyn Cruwys has served more than 50 years in various roles. Show secretary Charlotte Gordon prepared this year's schedule.
A gala dinner and prizegiving will take place that Friday evening at the Killyhevlin Hotel for the society's 60th anniversary. Guest speaker Clodagh Dunlop MBE will attend. The Royal Horticultural Society Bulb Expert Group will judge the show and deliver talks on bulbs plus a question-and-answer session.
The society works with the Northern Ireland Daffodil Group on its golden anniversary. The show features children's activities, stalls from specialist nurseries, and a members' plant stall.
Past shows in 2001, 2020, and 2021 were cancelled due to foot-and-mouth disease and Covid-19.
