Fermanagh and Omagh District Council held a reception at Enniskillen Town Hall to recognise the 60th anniversary of the Fermanagh Gardening Society. Shirley Hawkes, the council vice-chair, addressed members at the event.

The society formed 60 years ago when six individuals with an interest in gardening met, arranged by the Enniskillen Rotary Club. It now counts 130 members across different ages and backgrounds. Members meet monthly and organise visits to gardens and other groups from April to September.

The group maintains leadership continuity, with Evelyn Cruwyz serving as president after 55 years of membership and Sam Robsinson as vice-president. Both have contributed long-term guidance.

The society prepares for its annual Daffodil and Spring Flower Show on 10 April at the Killyhevlin Hotel in Enniskillen.
