Don Winston Curry, 39, of Primity Gardens in Derry, faced sentencing at court on Friday for driving while unfit through drink or drugs and breaching a traffic sign.

The offences occurred on August 3 last year when police observed Curry going through a red light and stopped him.

A test showed he was positive for a class A drug.

Defence solicitor Jack Quigley told the court that Curry wanted the case resolved quickly ahead of his wedding on Saturday.

Quigley noted that the drug remains detectable in the system for 48 hours and that Curry had taken it on a Friday night before the stop on Sunday afternoon.

The court disqualified Curry from driving for 12 months and imposed a fine of £150.
