Tyrone Man Convicted of Drink-Driving Offence
A 41-year-old man from Pomeroy has been convicted at Dungannon Magistrates Court of driving while over three times the legal drink-driving limit.
Sean McDermott, of Park View, admitted the offence after police received a report of a drink-driver on the estate on April 3.
The court was told that McDermott drove onto a grass area and got out of his vehicle. A member of the public removed the keys from the car.
When police arrived, McDermott was standing beside the vehicle. Officers described him as heavily intoxicated with slurred speech and unsteady on his feet.
A breath test showed 105 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath, compared to the legal limit of 35 micrograms.
District Judge Francis Rafferty said McDermott had been a danger to others. He was fined £300 and ordered to pay a £15 offender's levy.
