Primary School Girls Train as Leaders in Armagh Borough Activity Programme
More than 40 girls from seven primary schools in Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough participated in the Girls Active Primary Inspiration Day at Dromore Community Centre this week.
The event featured interactive workshops on leadership, marketing and planning. Participants aim to increase physical activity among other girls.
Lord Mayor Alderman Stephen Moutray attended the event. He stated that such initiatives matter for girls to shape activities that suit them and create better opportunities.
The Girls Active programme comes from the Youth Sport Trust in partnership with Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council. It involves pupils and teachers to boost girls' participation in PE, sport and physical activity via leadership in schools.
Irish Olympian Shirley McCay joined the event and described her experiences in elite sport, including Olympic representation for Ireland.
