A man from Omagh in Tyrone has been directed by Falcarragh District Court to donate €400 to the White Oaks Rehabilitation Centre in Donegal. The order follows his possession of cocaine valued at €30 in Letterkenny on March 17.

Liam Chism, of Croc Na Cor Road, Omagh, faced the court after gardaí found him with the drug on New Line Road during a night out with his girlfriend. Garda Sergeant Maurice Doyle presented the evidence.

Chism has one prior conviction for public intoxication. His solicitor noted his cooperation with authorities and intent to work in the concrete industry.

The court set the donation as an alternative to conviction and a €600 fine. The case adjourns to April 13.
