Two men in their 20s were arrested in Limavady, County Londonderry, following an altercation on Sunday that left a police officer with facial injuries requiring hospital treatment.

One man faced arrest on suspicion of assault on police, resisting arrest, and theft. The second man fled the initial scene, entered a property in the Glenview area, and armed himself with a broken bottle.

Officers entered the property. Specially trained officers deployed a conducted energy device to prevent the man from harming himself. He was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon, assault on police, disorderly behaviour, and theft.

A woman received hospital treatment for injuries not considered serious.

The incident began during a row between the two men. Police enquiries continue. Officers request information from witnesses, including mobile phone or CCTV footage, quoting reference 515 of 22/03/26 or contacting Crimestoppers anonymously.
