Two Men Remanded After Limavady Street Incident and Coleraine Hospital Charges
Two men aged 27 appeared via video link at Antrim Magistrates Court in Ballymena on Tuesday. Connor McSorley of Rathbeg Crescent in Limavady faces charges of disorderly behaviour and possessing a bottle as an offensive weapon in Irish Green Street on March 22. He also faces charges of assaulting police, resisting police and stealing alcohol from several premises.
James Doherty of Stradowen Drive in Derry/Londonderry faces two counts of assault on police, resisting police, attempted grievous bodily harm with intent, theft of alcohol and disorderly behaviour at Causeway Hospital in Coleraine.
No bail applications were made for either man. The court remanded both in custody. They will appear next at Limavady Magistrates Court in Coleraine on April 15.
Police entered a property in Limavady where a man had barricaded himself inside and taken hold of a bottle. Specially trained officers used a conducted energy device to prevent the man from injuring himself.
An officer received facial injuries in the incident and needed hospital treatment. A woman sustained injuries not considered serious and also went to hospital.
