Police arrested a 34-year-old man in the Roe Mill Road area of Limavady on Wednesday, April 8. The arrest followed a report at around 6.50pm of the man jumping out at two males cycling in a local forest park while armed with a knife.

Officers attended the scene and spoke to the cyclists. The two men were not injured.

Superintendent McManus stated that the cyclists were shaken by the encounter.

The suspect faces suspicion of possessing an article with blade or point in a public place. He also faces three counts of common assault.

The man remains in police custody. Enquiries continue.
