Terminally Ill Pensioner Covered in Glass After Window-Smashing Attack in Limavady
A 67-year-old man receiving palliative care was found covered in glass after an attack on his home in Greystone Road, Limavady, County Londonderry.
The incident occurred at about 21:50 BST on Wednesday. Police reported that the front windows of the property were smashed with an unknown object.
The man relies on oxygen tanks to breathe. He was alone in the house with his oxygen machines when the windows broke. Glass shards entered his bedroom where his bed sits beside the window.
His family received a call from him reporting the incident. He sounded out of breath and scared. They contacted police while driving to the scene and found him terrified in bed surrounded by glass.
A relative stated that the man is a single pensioner devoted to his family. Paramedics provided medical assistance after the attack. He has since left the house to stay with family as he feels too scared to return.
The relative noted that neighbours, all pensioners living in bungalows on the street, were left terrified and unable to sleep.
Police confirmed the man was uninjured but shaken. They are investigating the criminal damage and have asked for information on suspicious activity in the area.
The relative thanked the local community for their support.
