An event in Derry will address the impact of smartphones on children's lives. The mayor will open the gathering, which includes MLAs, senior education leaders, community organisations and other dignitaries.

Participants include paediatrician Dr Claire Sinton, Strabane Academy principal Craig Johnston and speech and language therapist Tara McDermott. Pupils and staff from St Joseph’s Boys’ School will also attend.

Organisers invite parents and guardians to join an open discussion on the topic.

The event focuses on providing children with time, connection and freedom. It takes place on March 24 at 7:30 pm.
