St Ronan's College in Lurgan is installing floodlights and ball stops on its synthetic pitch with a £445,000 capital investment. The school is one of eight in Northern Ireland selected for funding under Sport NI's Your School Your Club programme.

Communities Minister Gordon Lyons announced a total £3 million investment from the Department for Communities to upgrade school sports facilities. The upgrades allow safe use outside school hours by pupils, community groups and local sports organisations during evenings, weekends and holidays.

The Lurgan school maintains partnerships with Armagh GAA clubs, Ulster Rugby and Glenavon FC. Principal Fiona Kane stated the school engages widely with partners and supports inclusive community use across sports and cultural activities such as dance and music.

Kane added that the facilities serve groups from all backgrounds, including minority groups, people with disabilities, girls and women. Education Minister Paul Givan noted the investment supports positive social, emotional and physical impacts from sport participation.

The programme strengthens sport participation, promotes health and wellbeing, and maximises school facilities for the Lurgan, Craigavon and wider community.
