Colin McGeown, 33, of Charlestown Road in Craigavon, appeared in court on charges of grievous bodily harm with intent and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. The alleged incident occurred at a house in Garvaghy Grove, Portadown, on August 8, 2023.

Prosecutors stated that McGeown pulled the woman's hair, bit her hand, and forced her out of a bedroom window onto a small roof before pushing her off. She fell about 10 feet and suffered broken bones in her heels. She received treatment at Craigavon Area Hospital and requires additional surgery.

Police responded to the property after reports of the woman shouting for help. Officers found her in bed with McGeown, her ankles swollen. McGeown claimed she fell down the stairs and that he tried to assist her.

The woman also reported a prior assault where McGeown struck her head with a plank of wood, causing unconsciousness. McGeown received bail in December 2023 but returned to custody on February 21, 2024, facing witness intimidation charges.

Prosecutors alleged McGeown made up to 100 calls to the woman, threatening to burn her and her family out of their homes unless she withdrew the complaint. One call came while police were present. McGeown denied owning a phone.

Judge Gilpin refused bail, noting McGeown breached conditions by contacting the woman, who has vulnerabilities making her susceptible to intimidation.
