Fermanagh District Council Schedules Play Park Build in Derrygonnelly
Fermanagh and Omagh District Council will develop a play facility at Derrygonnelly Community Centre as part of the Outdoor Recreational Capital Programme. The effort belongs to the Fermanagh and Omagh PEACEPLUS Local Action Plan, which targets ten community spaces district-wide.
PEACEPLUS provides the funding, with the council supplying matching contributions. The programme supports peace and reconciliation initiatives in Northern Ireland and border counties after the Troubles.
Council chairman Barry McElduff called the work an investment in inclusive play areas. He said it will unite residents, encourage healthy habits and build community bonds while serving families across age groups.
Errol Thompson, chairman of the Fermanagh and Omagh PEACEPLUS Partnership, pointed to the project as evidence of partnerships creating areas that boost inclusion and good relations.
Fermanagh and South Tyrone MLA Jemma Dolan said the facility will aid rural communities through promotion of active living.
