Fermanagh Police Plan Road Safety Event in Arney
Police in Fermanagh will hold a Road Safety Roadshow at Cleenish Millennium Hall in Arney on Saturday, March 7. The event comes after local residents raised issues over serious road collisions in the area.
Erne West Neighbourhood Team organised the initiative, led by Constable Heuston and Mary Monaghan from Belnaleck GAC. Emergency services will show how they respond to road traffic collisions, including removing a person from a damaged vehicle.
Speakers from fire, police and ambulance services will share accounts of handling crashes. A founder of Road Victim Support NI and Donegal, who lost her 17-year-old son in a collision, will address attendees.
Fermanagh and Omagh Policing and Community Safety Partnership supplies virtual reality headsets for demonstrations. Cllr Thomas O’Reilly noted road safety as a priority for the partnership and community, with the technology aimed at young and new drivers.
The event targets newly qualified drivers, recent test passers, inexperienced drivers and learners. It remains open to everyone.
