Newry, Mourne and Down Policing and Community Safety Partnership held a free drop-in event on community safety and wellbeing at Newry Leisure Centre on 6 March.

More than 35 organisations and service providers attended to offer information, advice and support on community safety, health and wellbeing topics.

Residents met local services, learned about area support and viewed interactive demonstrations.

South Area Command of Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service presented a road safety demonstration with a vehicle emergency rescue, assisted by PSNI Newry City Neighbourhood Policing Team officers.

PSNI officers brought their Mobile Engagement Bus, which drew younger attendees for discussions on safety messages.

Students from local schools and community groups joined stallholders providing resources and guidance.

Newry, Mourne and Down PCSP Chairperson Councillor Henry Reilly stated that such events link communities to local services and support. He noted the positive public turnout and thanked organisations, schools and groups for their participation.
