Safety Review Urged for Letterbreen Road After Collision Data Released
A Fermanagh MLA is pressing for a full safety review of a stretch of road at Letterbreen after newly obtained police data revealed four recorded collisions there in five years.
Diana Armstrong, who represents Fermanagh and South Tyrone, obtained the figures from the PSNI following contact with the Department for Infrastructure. The department had told her there were no plans to upgrade the Double Corners, citing a lack of supporting data.
Armstrong believes the true number of incidents is significantly higher because many collisions and near misses go unreported. She is urging residents and road users to formally report all such events to the police, warning that underreporting undermines the case for safety improvements.
She stated she will continue to press the Infrastructure Minister for a full safety assessment of the road. The junction has been the focus of several public meetings in recent months, with local people raising repeated concerns about collisions and close calls.
