The Drumquin Historical Society is hosting a tribute to the late Charlie Kearney tomorrow evening at the Social Centre on Dooish Road, Drumquin. The event begins at 7:30pm, with doors opening at 7pm.

Kearney, known locally as the Bard of Drumquin, was a farmer and publican who ran the Wayside Bar on the Dooish Road. The event will include recordings of Kearney singing his own compositions, as well as performances of his songs and poems by local artists.

The historical society will unveil a plaque in Kearney's memory at the site of his former bar. The plaque will be placed on the property.

Admission is £5, and the evening will conclude with refreshments.

Kearney composed songs and poems about the local area, following in the footsteps of his half-brother Felix Kearney, who wrote the song 'The Hills above Drumquin'.
