Police are investigating an incident of anti-social behaviour on Castlereagh Road in east Belfast on Tuesday evening.

Officers received a report at approximately 8.30pm that a crowd had gathered and were blocking the road, setting off fireworks and riding scramblers dangerously.

When police attended, the scramblers left the area and the crowd dispersed.

Sergeant Brown stated that the dangerous riding of scramblers and other off-road bikes poses significant safety issues, creating nuisance and noise.

Sergeant Brown said participants put themselves and members of the public at risk of injury due to their manner of driving and lack of safety equipment.

Police said they take the issue seriously and are committed to tackling it.

Anyone with information, CCTV, dash-cam or other footage is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference 1548 29/09/26.
