Dundonald International Ice Bowl marked its 40th anniversary on Saturday 26th September with a programme of events including ice skating exhibitions, circus performances and prize giveaways.

The venue first opened in 1986 and remains Northern Ireland's only public Olympic-sized ice rink.

Skating exhibitions featured former Olympic skater and Ice Bowl coach Kevin van der Perren, and students choreographed by Dancing on Ice star and Ice Bowl coach Maria Filippov.

Other entertainment included a magician, clowns, a juggler, face painting, balloon modelling and DJ-led entertainment.

Mayor of Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council, Councillor Brian Higginson, said the event celebrated generations of families and communities who have used the facility.

Chair of the Communities and Wellbeing Committee, Councillor Sharon Lowry, said visitors shared memories of first skates, birthday parties, bowling nights and school trips.
