More than 400 competitors took part in this year’s Ballycastle Junior and Senior August Tennis Tournaments.

The events ran over two weeks at the Alex McFarland Tennis Courts, with more than 600 matches played. Players travelled from across the UK to take part.

Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council facilitated the tournaments. Sean Moloney acted as referee.

Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens, Councillor Dawn Huggins, attended the junior competition. She said the courts were busy and the event was a showcase for the talent and enthusiasm in tennis. She congratulated all participants and the winners, adding that the tournament brings energy to Ballycastle and gives visitors another reason to spend time in the area.

Deputy Mayor, Alderman Sandra Hunter, attended the senior competition. She described the tournament as a fixture in the local sporting calendar that makes a real contribution to the town during the summer months. She praised the players, volunteers and officials for their work.

The tournaments provide a platform for players to compete at different levels while drawing visitors to Ballycastle during the summer season.
