Holywood seconds win NCU Minor Qualifying Cup by 16 runs
Holywood seconds won the NCU Minor Qualifying Cup on Saturday with a 16-run victory over Victoria seconds at The Mall in Armagh.
Holywood batted first and finished on 190 for 6 from 30 overs. Richard Hope top-scored with 49. He ended the competition with 210 runs from three innings, the most among all players. Puskar Pun added 27, Shah Ata made 30, and Dan Fletcher scored 27.
Victoria's chase began with Holywood's Ali Khan Sherwani on a hat-trick in the first over. Muhammad Bhandara reached 50 from 31 balls.
Leg-spinner Madison Landsman bowled Robert Black and later took a catch to dismiss Rithwik Mandody off Puskar Pun's bowling. Richard Snodgrass took a catch at extra cover to dismiss Viswanathan Vanaraja.
Puskar Pun's off-breaks slowed Victoria's scoring. Holywood's seamers bowled controlled lines and James Atkinson effected a run-out.
Victoria finished 16 runs short. Bhandara was named man of the match after making 50 and taking 4 for 31 from six overs.
