A planning application has been submitted to Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council for the demolition of an existing dwelling at 41 Quay Road, Ballycastle, and the construction of seven apartments with associated works.

The 0.34-hectare site sits within the development limit of Ballycastle town centre and falls inside the Antrim Coast and Glens Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is also located within the Ballycastle Conservation Area and the Tow River Valley Conservation Area.

The site is bounded by Ballycastle Integrated Primary School and Ballycastle Leisure Centre. To the north, two- and three-storey residential and commercial properties line Quay Road, while the Tow River valley with mature trees and agricultural land defines the southern boundary. The Dun a Mallaght Motte lies to the southeast, and a telephone exchange building is positioned along the eastern boundary.

The submitted design and access statement describes the proposal as delivering a high-quality residential environment in an area where residential use is predominant. It notes the site is close to shops, car parking, public houses, churches, Quay Road Park, and Ballycastle playing fields.
