Féile an Phobail’s 2025 programme includes the launch of two books examining distinct aspects of Irish society.

The first, ‘Women’s Voices, Hopes for a New Ireland’, has been compiled and edited by Grace McDermott and Aoife Ferguson. Published by Sinn Féin’s Commission on the Future of Ireland, it brings together contributions from 62 women across Ireland and the diaspora. The contributors are from varied backgrounds and include writers, actors, musicians, community workers, political activists, health workers, and Protestant voices. The collection comprises written pieces, poetry, song lyrics, and artwork.

The book will be launched on Monday, August 4, at 1pm in Áras Uí Chonghaile, Belfast, by Sinn Féin president Mary Lou McDonald TD. A further launch takes place during the Derry Féile on Tuesday, August 12, at 2.30pm in Cultúrlann Uí Chanáin.

The second launch is for ‘From Feakle to the Falls and Derry’s Wall – Methodism and the Peace Process, 1985-2025’ by David Gallagher. The author is a former lay secretary of the Methodist Church in Ireland’s Northern Executive and a long-serving member of its Council on Social Responsibility. He will discuss the book on Thursday, July 31, at 1pm in St Mary’s University College, Falls Road.

Both titles are available from An Fhuiseog on the Falls Road and its website.
