Sainsbury’s to Open First Omagh Store in November, Creating 140 Jobs
Sainsbury’s has confirmed it will open its first supermarket in Omagh this November, backed by a £12 million investment that is expected to create around 140 jobs.
The store will be located at the Great Northern Retail Park and will become the retailer’s 13th supermarket in Northern Ireland. Construction has begun after planning permission was granted, and recruitment for the store team is now underway.
Christian Wakelin, Sainsbury’s Head of Supermarket Development, said the company is pleased to bring the brand to Omagh for the first time. He noted the project will revitalise two units at the retail park and thanked the community for engaging with the planning process.
Iain Semple, Sainsbury’s Regional Stores Director for Northern Ireland, said recruitment is being prioritised to build a local team ahead of the opening. He acknowledged public enthusiasm for the store and said the company intends to become a part of the local community.
The retailer has pledged to provide regular updates as the construction work progresses toward the November opening date.
