Sainsbury’s has confirmed its first Omagh supermarket will open on Thursday, November 12, at the Great Northern Retail Park. Doors will open at 9am.

The £12 million development is expected to create around 140 new jobs. It will be Sainsbury’s 13th supermarket in Northern Ireland.

Planning permission was granted after a public consultation in which around 70 per cent of respondents supported the proposal.

Local councillor Barry McElduff welcomed the opening date, describing the investment as a major boost for Omagh. He said people throughout Omagh and wider west Tyrone had given positive feedback about Sainsbury’s opening in the town.

McElduff said choice, convenience and cost are important to customers, and that Sainsbury’s further enhances the supermarket offering available in Omagh.
