Two Ards Leisure Centres Earn Top Industry Accreditation
Two leisure centres in the Ards area have secured the highest accreditation available in the leisure sector. Ards Blair Mayne Wellbeing and Leisure Complex in Newtownards and Comber Leisure Centre each received Quest Excellent Accreditation following an annual assessment.
The evaluation, conducted by industry quality assurance body Quest, involved an independent assessor spending a full day at each site. The assessor reviewed operations, processes and planning, and spoke directly with staff and customers. Anonymous mystery visitors also contributed to the final outcome.
Deputy Mayor of Ards and North Down James Cochrane said the achievement reflected the hard work and professionalism of the teams, who aim to provide welcoming and inclusive environments where people can improve their health and wellbeing.
A council spokeswoman noted that the commitment to quality is central to the borough’s Getting Active, Staying Active Leisure Strategy, launched in February 2026. The strategy seeks to give more residents opportunities to participate in active leisure and experience physical, mental and social benefits.
