Two men have been charged after a man was seriously assaulted in Dundonald on Saturday evening, 18 July.

The victim, a man in his 20s, was walking on Drumadoon Drive shortly before 10pm when two males set upon him. One of the attackers carried a metal bar or a similar weapon.

He sustained cuts to his head and a broken arm during the incident and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Officers responding to the scene arrested a 34-year-old and a 38-year-old man.

Police later charged the 38-year-old with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.

The 34-year-old faces charges of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and common assault.

Both men are scheduled to appear before Newtownards Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 14 August. All charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service in the usual manner.
