Fermanagh Priest Urges Church to Cut Allianz Ties Over Israeli War Links
A Fermanagh-based priest has urged the Roman Catholic Church to sever its relationship with the global insurance company Allianz.
Fr Gabriel Dolan, who serves in the Aghadrumsee and Clones area, said the church pays up to £20 million annually to Allianz. He alleged the insurer maintains links to the Israeli military, and argued the financial arrangement should not continue.
Fr Dolan is now working with Fr Joe McVeigh and a newly formed group called Priests Against Genocide, which is connected to the Association of Catholic Priests. The group intends to approach bishops and other church leaders, hoping to present viable insurance alternatives and secure a switch by January.
Church officials have not responded to repeated requests for comment on Fr Dolan’s appeal.
Separately, the Gaelic Athletic Association is also facing internal pressure over its sponsorship deal with Allianz. A recent senior management meeting at Croke Park was divided on whether the relationship should continue.
Fr Dolan said his organisation is exploring several avenues and remains hopeful of a formal church response.
