A man charged with attempting to rob a fried chicken outlet in Derry has been returned for trial.

Jordan Hazlett, aged 31 and from Ebrington Oaks, appeared at the local Magistrates' Court on Monday for a preliminary enquiry. The court accepted there was a case to answer and no contrary submissions were made.

Hazlett indicated he did not wish to call any witnesses or make a statement at this stage. He was returned for trial on September 9.
