The UK Government has opened a public consultation on the distribution of National Lottery Good Cause money, the first such review in over two decades.

The 12-week call for evidence invites individuals, community groups and organisations to share their views on what works well and what could be improved.

Sport NI Chair Gavin Boyd said the body, which distributes lottery funding for sport in Northern Ireland, has overseen more than £219 million of investment from that source. He said the money has supported local sports clubs, governing bodies, facility development and athletes competing internationally.

Boyd said the consultation is an important chance to ensure the funding continues to bring maximum benefit, and he encouraged anyone with an interest in its future to respond.

The Arts Council of Northern Ireland also urged artists, cultural workers and the wider public to take part, stressing the need to hear from those who care about the arts.

The government is seeking feedback on how accessible the funding process is and where future money should be directed. Responses can be submitted on the GOV.UK website.
