Man named after fatal single-vehicle crash in Ballyclare
Police have named the driver who died in a single-vehicle collision on the Green Road in Ballyclare on Friday evening as 31-year-old Matthew McIlroy, from the County Antrim area.
Emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 6.45pm on Friday 26 June after reports that a black Audi A5 had crashed and overturned. Police officers, the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service, and the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service attended, but Mr McIlroy was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Green Road was closed for a period following the incident to allow investigators to examine the crash site. It has since reopened to traffic.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Collision Investigation Unit is continuing its inquiries into the circumstances of the collision. Detectives are seeking witnesses and anyone with dash-cam or other footage that may assist the investigation.
