The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service visited St Malachy’s Primary School in Kilcoo, County Down, to teach pupils about the role of paramedics.

Clinical Support Officer Roisin and Student Advanced Ambulance Practitioner Kaitlin brought an ambulance to the school on 25 June 2026. The children were allowed to explore the vehicle and ask questions about the crew’s work.

One question from the pupils concerned how crews handle a flat tyre while responding to an emergency call.

The school and ambulance staff described the visit as positive. Teachers in Northern Ireland who want a similar visit can contact the ambulance service to make arrangements.
