Hillsborough man fined for speeding and failing to identify driver
A 23-year-old Hillsborough man has been fined after a court heard his vehicle was detected exceeding the speed limit on the Hillsborough Road in Lisburn.
Peter Murdock, of Bellykeel Road, appeared unrepresented before Lisburn Magistrates Court on Thursday 11 June 2026.
The court was told that on 22 October 2025, the vehicle was recorded travelling at 37mph in a 30mph zone.
Murdock, the registered owner, subsequently received a number of notices requesting the driver’s identity. He failed to provide the details, and was prosecuted.
Deputy District Judge Philip Mateer imposed a fine of £80, along with an offender levy of £15 and three penalty points.
