Violence disrupts health services as international staff face intimidation
Health services across Northern Ireland are facing severe disruption because of ongoing community violence, health leaders have said.
Chief executives from all Health and Social Care organisations issued a joint statement expressing deep concern at the unrest.
They said it is unacceptable that international staff, who provide invaluable services, are being intimidated and feel too frightened to attend work.
The disruption is compounding existing pressures on a system already under enormous strain, they added.
The leaders stressed that the safety of patients, service users and staff is paramount, and that everyone working across the health service must be able to provide essential care without fear.
They thanked all staff for their continued dedication in very difficult circumstances.
