Newtownabbey Foodbank opens central warehouse at Carnmoney Presbyterian Church
Newtownabbey Foodbank has opened a new central warehouse at the Carnmoney Presbyterian Church site.
The facility will supply four centres operated by the foodbank: Abbots Cross Presbyterian Church, Ballyclare Presbyterian Church, Carnmoney Presbyterian Church, and Greencastle Methodist Church.
Since 2015, the foodbank has provided 43,203 food parcels, supporting 25,364 adults and 17,839 children.
The previous central store was located at the Hill Stores.
Fred McDowell, chair of the Newtownabbey Foodbank Management Committee, thanked donors, local church congregations, businesses, and customers of Tesco Northcott and ASDA Ballyclare. McDowell credited the 94 volunteers who date check, weigh food, and welcome people at the centres.
Donations can be left at the warehouse on Mondays and Thursdays between 10am and 12 noon, or at collection points in Tesco Northcott and ASDA Ballyclare.
People needing help can contact the foodbank on 07581 179604 or by email.
