Three athletes from the Castlewellan-based Team Torres Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu club won medals at the Irish BJJ Open in Dublin over the weekend of 23 and 24 May.

Five-year-old white belt Ronan Ferris took gold in the under-25kg division for five- to six-year-olds. He was the only five-year-old participant in the category.

Shea Stratton, 21, also a white belt, secured silver in the adult under-70kg class after winning four matches before losing the final.

Franco Notorantino, 39, a blue belt, claimed gold in the Master 2 under-20kg division.

All three fighters reached their finals by submission. The competition was held at the National Indoor Arena in Blanchardstown.
