DUP MP Calls for Health Checks to Reach Other Sports Clubs
DUP MP Gregory Campbell has asked Kingsbridge Private Hospital to offer free health checks to sports clubs beyond the GAA.
Kingsbridge Private Hospital is running a Health Check Roadshow at nine GAA clubs. Six of the clubs are in Northern Ireland and three are in the Republic of Ireland.
Campbell wrote to the hospital chief executive in April seeking clarification on whether similar services would be offered to football, rugby, cricket and hockey clubs.
The MP sent a second letter by hand five weeks later after receiving no reply.
Campbell said health inequalities exist across communities and that members of other sports clubs would benefit from the same access to screenings.
He stated the request concerns fairness and equal opportunity rather than criticism of the GAA initiative.
The hospital has not yet responded to the second letter.
